Culturally Responsive and Embedded Social and Emotional Learning
Date: February 23, 2017 at 12pm Alaska Time
What is culturally responsive social and emotional learning and how can it support the work you do with youth in Alaska? Please join the Association of Alaska School Boards to explore both of these questions in the webinar “Culturally Responsive and Embedded Social and Emotional Learning”. During the webinar, we’ll:
- Define social and emotional learning (SEL)
- Highlight strategies for building SEL skills in culturally diverse groups of youth
- Describe how the culture of a community can shape what SEL looks like in schools and/or organizations in that community
- Hear from two school districts in Alaska that are using community feedback to move from a general SEL approach to a culturally responsive SEL that is place-based and reflective of their community
This webinar will be useful for people working with youth in both the school setting and in out of school time.
